First Dance Wedding Reception Photograph Breakdown
Here is another Before and After photograph. As a wedding photographer one of the pressure moments is the first dance. I talked to the wedding coordinator about what to expect. I worked with my assistant on where to put the flash (behind the couple) and I set my camera up. I am also trying to stay out of the way of guests so I crouched low. Wanted to line them up between the lights and mirrors in the back. When they came out I started shooting only to have someone else taking pictures in the background... I work hard with my second shooter and videographer to stay out of each other's line of fire (see previous post). It meant moving my position and not being lined up. Luckily before he got in the shot I was able to capture this shot.
Then it was on to post. First thing I did was crop it and level it. Then I color corrected and got the yellow off the skin. Then I lit them up and brought back detail in the dress. Did some noise removal. All this is done in Lightroom. Then I knew I wanted a shallower depth of field to blur the background more. So off to Photoshop and I created a layer of the couple Justin and Mari and with them separated I did a blur. In the end got something that is Album cover worthy.
